Yuko is a fully qualified Japanese acupuncture, moxibustion and shiatsu massage practitioner, and fully insured member of the Japanese Acupuncture and Moxibustion Association alongside the British Acupuncture Federation.

She trained at the Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Physiotherapy School for three years in Tokyo, and in 2008 with Japanese national licenses in all three therapies. She continued developing her skills by further training in “Shakuju Therapy”, a Japanese acupuncture method using very gentle painless stimulation whilst delivering healing at a deep level.

Yuko was born and grew up in Japan, her first experience in acupuncture was during her childhood, for atopic eczema. Her mother sought an acupuncturist to help her child, knowing the benefits of acupuncture. Far from being scared of the needles during treatment, she did not feel any pain but instead remembers feeling safe and relaxed, the therapist’s kindness and the smell of moxa. These positive feelings only increased with each treatment bringing relief to the itching, she felt irritated, slept better and felt very relaxed.

Later on in life when at university studying social and cultural anthropology, during her postgraduate studies when she started to suffer from stress disorders, it was then she remembered her treatment as a child. Naturally, she found another acupuncturist and soon found her way back to health. It was during this time a passion ignited, and as she started reading oriental medicine self-care books a desire grew to study and practice acupuncture.

Nature is very important to Yuko, when working as a gardener for the Findhorn Foundation in Scotland, she learned how people connect better with themselves, their bodies and their emotions when in tune with the natural flow of the seasons and weather. Reconnecting with nature, of which she believes our bodies are a part can be part of healing too.

Since moving to Rutland in June 2023, she enjoys the beautiful countryside and is happy to be able to share her skills, experience and support to help others on their path to health and wellness.
