James Dunham is a fully qualified Nutritional Therapist. James combines science (biochemistry and nutrition) with naturopathy (natural, drug-free medicine) to treat many common health conditions.

Following a poor diet and lifestyle during university, James suffered from bloating and flatulence, making him the butt of jokes and feeling lost in knowing how to get back to his best. At the time, he was a keen runner, and things came to a head when he had to take an unscheduled toilet break during the London marathon!

Something had to change.

With the intuitive hunch that a conventional doctor would be unable to get to the root of the problem, he decided to take a do-it-yourself approach. Having gotten lost down the internet rabbit hole but realising there was something pivotal about diet, James started formally studying nutrition at the College of Naturopathic Medicine, during which he uncovered he was suffering from Small Intestinal Bacteria Overgrowth or SIBO. Armed with scientific know-how, over time and with plenty of setbacks, he resolved his issues allowing him to move past the helplessness and frustration that had been troubling him for years. Not only did his symptoms clear up, but his running also improved.

Our modern lifestyles and environment are often implicated in digestive issues like bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, reflux, gas and abdominal pain. However, due to the importance of the gut in overall health, many other symptoms like joint pain, skin issues, brain fog, fatigue, and food sensitivities can be driven by imbalances in the gut. Through his healing journey, James became so passionate about how scientific information applied practically can make a life-changing difference and allow people to live more fully. It is James’s passion to share this knowledge with the people that need it most and help them to feel good again. By releasing the tension from their gut controlling their lives, people can rediscover their freedom and love of life.

Treatment

Nutritional therapy combines science (biochemistry and nutrition) with naturopathy (natural, drug-free medicine) to return the patient to good health. Nutritional therapy supports people by viewing the body as an interconnected organism rather than a collection of isolated body systems. Nutritional therapy addresses the root cause of health issues, not just the symptoms.

Nutritional Therapy can support everyone – women, men, babies, and children of any age. As we are all different, our bodies may require higher levels of specific nutrients and different nutritional support, especially as we progress through the critical stages of life.

Comprehensive nutritional therapy incorporates five key areas of health:

  • Diet
  • Sleep
  • Stress management
  • Movement
  • Chronobiology (when we eat)

At Life Rituals, we look to uncover the root cause of health issues. Therefore we take a detailed case history of each client, considering the results of functional diagnostic testing, where appropriate, and clients’ responses to previous treatments. Everyone is different, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach. We go on a journey with our clients, and educating them plays a key role in understanding why they feel the way they do. We support our clients to feel empowered and regain control of their health.
